    Access sTfR: The sTfR assay reagent pack consists of two specific reagents: (R1a) paramagnetic particles coated with streptavidin:biotinylated soluble transferrin receptor monoclonal antibody, proteins (mouse, goat, bovine), bovine serum albumin (BSA), 0.1% sodium azide, and 0.17% ProClin 300; and (R1b) Monoclonal mouse anti-human soluble transferrin receptor alkaline phosphatase (bovine) conjugate, BSA, 0.1% sodium azide and 0.17% ProClin 300. The antimicrobial susceptibility tests are miniaturizations of the broth dilution susceptibility test that have been diluted in broth and dehydrated. Various antimicrobial agents are diluted in broth to concentrations bridging the range of clinical interest. Panels are rehydrated with water after inoculation with a standardized suspension of the organism. After incubation in a non-CO2 incubator for 16-20 hours, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for the test organism is read by determining the lowest antimicrobial concentration showing inhibition of growth.

Immune complexes formed in solution scatter light in proportion to their size, shape and concentration. Turbidimeters then measure the reduction of incidence light due to reflection, absorption or scatter. In the AU procedure, the decrease in intensity of light transmitted (increase in absorbance) through particles suspended in solution is as a result of complexes formed during the antigen-antibody reaction.

    The Beckman Coulter DxC 700 AU Clinical Chemistry Analyzer carries out automated analysis of serum, plasma, urine samples and other body fluids and automatically generates results. The device is an automated chemistry analyzer that measures analytes in samples, in combination with appropriate reagents, calibrators, quality control (QC) material and other accessories. This system is for in vitro diagnostic use only. Applications include colorimetric, latex agglutination and ion selective electrode. Electrolyte measurement is performed using a single cell Ion Selective Electrode (ISE) which is also common among the other members of the AU family. The ISE module for Na*, K*, and Cl employs crown ether membrane electrodes for sodium and potassium and a molecular oriented PVC membrane for chloride that are specific for each ion of interest in the sample. An electrical potential is developed according to the Nernst Equation for a specific ion.
