Intended Use
The ac Wire is intended for use in peripheral vascular and heart catheterization procedures to introduce and assist in positioning diagnostic and interventional devices. The ac Wire may also function as an alignment tool by providing a reference plane of anatomical structures of interest (e.g., the aortic valve).
Device Description
The ac Wire device is a 0.035"" outside diameter, single use, disposable guidewire. The ac Wire device consists of a flexible guidewire that incorporates a low profile, radiopaque alignment element consisting of three loops with radiopaque markers that when open, form a "tulip" configuration designed to assist the physician in acquiring a reference plane under fluoroscopy.
More Information

No
The description focuses on the physical characteristics and function of a guidewire and its radiopaque alignment element. There is no mention of AI, ML, image processing, or any software-based analysis or interpretation.

No.
The guidewire is used to introduce and position other diagnostic and interventional devices, as well as an alignment tool, rather than directly treating a disease or condition.

No

Its intended use is to introduce and assist in positioning diagnostic and interventional devices, and it may also function as an alignment tool. It is not described as diagnosing a condition itself.

No

The device description clearly states it is a physical guidewire with a radiopaque alignment element, indicating it is a hardware device, not software-only.

Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • Intended Use: The intended use is for introducing and positioning diagnostic and interventional devices within the peripheral vascular and heart, and for providing an anatomical reference plane during procedures. This is a surgical/interventional tool, not a device used to examine specimens derived from the human body to provide information for diagnosis, monitoring, or compatibility testing.
  • Device Description: The device is a guidewire with a physical alignment element. It does not involve any reagents, calibrators, or other components typically associated with in vitro testing.
  • Function: Its function is to physically guide other devices and provide a visual reference under fluoroscopy. It does not perform any analysis of biological samples.

IVD devices are used to perform tests on samples like blood, urine, tissue, etc., outside of the body (in vitro) to diagnose or monitor medical conditions. This device operates within the body (in vivo) as a procedural aid.
