The 510(k) summary describes a medical examination glove and contains no mention of AI, ML, or related concepts like image processing, training sets, or performance metrics typically associated with AI/ML devices.
No
Explanation: The device is described as a medical glove used to prevent contamination, which is a barrier function rather than a therapeutic one (treatment or diagnosis of a condition).
No
Explanation: The device is described as "medical gloves" intended to "prevent contamination," which is a protective function, not a diagnostic one. There is no mention of it being used to identify or analyze medical conditions.
No
The device description clearly states it is "RS Nitrilstat Medical Examination Gloves, Powder Free (Non-Sterile)", which are physical gloves, not software.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use is to prevent contamination between healthcare personnel and the patient by being worn on the hand. This is a physical barrier function, not a diagnostic test performed on samples taken from the body.
- Device Description: The device is described as "Medical Examination Gloves." Gloves are a physical barrier, not a diagnostic tool.
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: The description does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
- Analyzing samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
- Detecting or measuring substances in samples
- Providing information for diagnosis, monitoring, or screening
Therefore, this device falls under the category of a medical device, but not specifically an In Vitro Diagnostic device.
