The description focuses solely on the technical specifications of a medical-grade LCD monitor for displaying images, with no mention of AI, ML, or any analytical capabilities beyond simple display.
No
The device is described as a display for medical images, not as a tool for treatment or therapy. It is used by medical practitioners for viewing and analysis, which are diagnostic activities.
No
The device is a medical monitor intended for displaying and viewing medical images. While it's used by "diagnostics professionals" and is "ideal for diagnosing detailed medical graphics," its function is solely to display images, not to perform analysis or interpretation itself to arrive at a diagnosis. It is a tool for diagnosis, but not a diagnostic device in itself.
No
The device description explicitly states it is an "LCD monitor" and provides hardware specifications like resolution, brightness, contrast ratio, and interface. This indicates it is a physical hardware device, not software only.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- IVD Definition: In Vitro Diagnostics are tests performed on samples such as blood, urine, or tissue to detect diseases or other conditions. They are used to examine specimens taken from the human body.
- Device Function: The description clearly states the device is a medical grade monochrome LCD monitor used for displaying and viewing digital images for analysis by trained medical practitioners. It's a display tool, not a test that analyzes biological samples.
- Intended Use: The intended use is for viewing and analyzing medical images, not for performing diagnostic tests on patient specimens.
The device is a medical device, specifically a medical image display, but it does not fit the definition of an In Vitro Diagnostic.

§ 892.2050 Medical image management and processing system.
(a)
Identification. A medical image management and processing system is a device that provides one or more capabilities relating to the review and digital processing of medical images for the purposes of interpretation by a trained practitioner of disease detection, diagnosis, or patient management. The software components may provide advanced or complex image processing functions for image manipulation, enhancement, or quantification that are intended for use in the interpretation and analysis of medical images. Advanced image manipulation functions may include image segmentation, multimodality image registration, or 3D visualization. Complex quantitative functions may include semi-automated measurements or time-series measurements.(b)
Classification. Class II (special controls; voluntary standards—Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Std., Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) Std., Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Test Pattern).
