More Information

No
The device description and intended use focus on mechanical safety features and do not mention any computational or data-driven capabilities.

No
The device is a syringe for injecting insulin, which is a drug, not for directly treating a disease or condition itself.

No

The device is described as a safety syringe for the injection of insulin, designed to prevent needlestick injuries and reuse. Its intended use is for administering medication, not for diagnosing a condition or disease.

No

The device description clearly indicates it is a physical syringe with a needle, not a software-only product.

Based on the provided text, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • Intended Use: The intended use clearly states the device is for "injection of insulin into a patient" and to "prevent needlestick injuries." This describes a device used for administering a substance directly into the body, which is an in vivo application, not an in vitro (outside the body) diagnostic test.
  • Device Description: The description details a "piston syringe" with a "permanently attached needle," consistent with a device for injection.
  • Lack of IVD Characteristics: The text does not mention any components or functions related to analyzing samples (like blood, urine, etc.) or providing diagnostic information. There's no mention of reagents, test strips, or any form of analysis performed on a sample.

Therefore, the CAREO Safety Syringe for U-100 Insulin 0.5cc/mL is a medical device for drug delivery and safety, not an in vitro diagnostic device.
