This device is a power wheelchair, which provides mobility assistance rather than directly treating a medical condition or restoring normal bodily function in a therapeutic sense.

No
The device is a power wheelchair, which is a mobility aid, not a diagnostic tool used to identify or analyze medical conditions.

No

The device description clearly outlines a physical, battery-powered electric motor-driven wheelchair with a frame, seat, armrests, and footrests, indicating it is a hardware device.

Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • Intended Use: The intended use is to provide mobility to individuals with limited sitting ability who can operate a power wheelchair. This is a mechanical function for physical assistance.
  • Device Description: The description details a mechanical device with a frame, wheels, motors, and seating components. It focuses on providing mobility.
  • Lack of IVD Characteristics: There is no mention of:
    • Analyzing biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.).
    • Detecting or measuring substances in the body.
    • Providing information for diagnosis, monitoring, or treatment decisions based on biological analysis.

IVD devices are specifically designed to perform tests on samples taken from the human body to provide information about a person's health. The Frontier Power Wheelchair does not perform any such tests. It is a mobility aid.
