Yes.
The device is used for the "injection of anesthetic solution for profound anesthesia of oral tissues," which is a therapeutic intervention.
No
Explanation: The device is described as an injection system for administering anesthetic solutions, not for diagnosis. Its purpose is to facilitate the delivery of medication, not to identify or monitor medical conditions.
No
The device description clearly states it is a "sterile, single use Needle Guard assembly and a reusable Syringe Plunger assembly," indicating it is a physical medical device with hardware components.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- IVD Definition: In Vitro Diagnostics are medical devices used to examine specimens taken from the human body (like blood, urine, or tissue) to provide information about a person's health. This includes tests for diagnosis, monitoring, or screening.
- Device Function: The UltraSafe Dental™ Injection System is a device used to administer a substance (anesthetic solution) into the body. It is a delivery system, not a device that analyzes samples taken from the body.
- Intended Use: The intended use is for "injection of anesthetic solution for profound anesthesia of oral tissues." This is a therapeutic or procedural use, not a diagnostic one.
Therefore, the UltraSafe Dental™ Injection System falls under the category of a medical device used for treatment or procedure, not an In Vitro Diagnostic.
