Device Story

Revi System is an implantable tibial electrical urinary continence device. Implanted near the tibial neurovascular bundle, it receives wireless power from an external, wearable unit. The wearable unit, powered by a replaceable internal battery, transmits energy to the implant, which delivers electrical pulses to the tibial nerve. These pulses travel to the sacral plexus and spinal cord to modulate nerve function and relieve symptoms. The system includes a clinician programmer and a HealthGo Micro Hub for data communication to the cloud. The device is used by adult patients under prescription. Modifications include an updated wearable unit with a new UI (three enlarged buttons, four linear LED indicators), internal circuit/firmware improvements for power consumption, and redesigned enclosure using plastic injection molding. The implantable component remains unchanged.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Testing included electrical/battery performance, mechanical testing, system performance, transportation/storage (ASTM D4169), product stability, software verification, cybersecurity, electrical safety (IEC 60601-1 Ed. 3.2), EMC (IEC 60601-1-2:2020, IEC TS 60601-4-2), and wireless testing. A human factors/usability evaluation with a comparative use-related risk analysis (URRA) confirmed no impact on critical tasks.

The device is intended for the treatment of urgency incontinence, alone or in combination with urinary urgency. The implantable device is implanted in the vicinity of the tibial neurovascular bundle. The treatment effect of the system is achieved by the implantable wireless neurostimulation component, which sends pulses to the tibial nerve when energized by the wearable unit transmitted power. The electrical pulses stimulate the nerve along the leg, reaching the sacral plexus and entering the spinal cord. This stimulation is theorized to have the power to modulate nerve function, relieving symptoms. The modifications reported in this 510(k) submission include introducing an updated Wearable Unit, an associated software update to support the updated Wearable Unit and related labeling. Performance Testing Non-clinical benchtop testing was conducted to evaluate the performance characteristics of the modified Revi System.
