Intended Use

The 2-Way 100% Silicone ClearTract Catheter is intended for drainage of the urinary tract. Catheterization is accomplished by inserting the catheter through the urethra and into the bladder. Intended population is adults and pediatrics.

Device Story

The 2-Way 100% Silicone ClearTract Catheter is a single-use Foley catheter designed for urinary tract drainage. It features two lumens: one for balloon inflation/deflation and one for drainage. Constructed from medical-grade silicone, the device includes a zwitterionic polymer surface modification to reduce friction. It is inserted through the urethra into the bladder by a healthcare provider. The device connects to a standard urinary bag via a non-interconnectable connector. By facilitating continuous drainage, it assists in managing urinary retention or post-operative bladder care. No physical modifications were made to the device; this submission reflects updated labeling regarding the surface modification.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data. Bench testing only. Friction testing performed per ASTM D1894-14 demonstrated a significant reduction in the coefficient of friction for the treated silicone surface compared to untreated silicone.

Technological Characteristics

Medical-grade silicone construction with zwitterionic polymer surface modification. 2-way Foley design with inflation and drainage lumens. Sizes: 14Fr/10cc, 16Fr/5cc, 18Fr/10cc. Sterilization: Ethylene Oxide gas. Performance standard: ASTM F623. Single-use, prescription-only.

Indications for Use

Indicated for drainage of the urinary tract in adult and pediatric patients via urethral insertion into the bladder.
