Intended Use

The Diastat ™Anti Beta 2 GLYCOPROTEIN I IgM test is a semi-quantitative/qualitative enzyme-linked immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for the detection the IgM class of autoantibodies to b2 GP1 in human serum, or sodium citrate, EDTA(K2), and lithium heparin anti-coagulated plasma. It is intended to aid in the assessment of thrombotic risk in patients with autoimmune disease associated with thrombotic disorders such as those with Primary Anti Phospholipid Syndrome (PAPS) or secondary to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and is not definitive in isolation. Autoantibody levels represent one parameter in a multicriterion diagnostic process.

Device Story

Diastat Anti-BETA 2 GLYCOPROTEIN 1 IgM is an ELISA-based in vitro diagnostic test. It detects IgM class autoantibodies to b2 GP1 in human serum or anti-coagulated plasma samples. The device functions as a semi-quantitative/qualitative assay to aid clinicians in assessing thrombotic risk in patients with autoimmune conditions like Primary Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. It is intended for professional use in clinical laboratory settings. Results are used as one parameter within a broader, multi-criterion diagnostic process and are not intended to be definitive in isolation.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided in the document; substantial equivalence is based on technological and intended use characteristics.

Technological Characteristics

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detection of IgM autoantibodies. Analyzes human serum, sodium citrate, EDTA(K2), or lithium heparin anti-coagulated plasma. Class II device, product code MSV.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients with autoimmune disease (e.g., Primary Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) to aid in assessing thrombotic risk via detection of IgM class autoantibodies to b2 GP1 in human serum or plasma.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A multiple autoantibodies immunological test system is a device that consists of the reagents used to measure by immunochemical techniques the autoantibodies (antibodies produced against the body's own tissues) in serum and other body fluids. Measurement of multiple autoantibodies aids in the diagnosis of autoimmune disorders (disease produced when the body's own tissues are injured by autoantibodies).
