Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use is "To pierce the skin in the practice of acupuncture." This describes a physical intervention on the body, not a test performed on samples taken from the body (like blood, urine, or tissue).
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: The description does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
- Analyzing biological samples.
- Providing information about a patient's health status, disease, or condition.
- Using reagents or other materials to perform a test.
IVDs are specifically designed to be used in vitro (outside the living body) to examine specimens from the human body. This device is used in vivo (on the living body) for a therapeutic purpose (acupuncture).
