The summary describes a digital imaging system for acquiring, recording, and displaying radiographic images. There is no mention of AI, ML, or any related concepts like image processing that would typically involve such technologies. The focus is on the core functionality of digital image acquisition and display.
No
The device is described as an imaging system used to acquire, record, and display radiographic images for diagnostic purposes, not for treating diseases or conditions.
No
The device is intended to acquire, record, and display radiographic images, which are then interpreted by a trained healthcare professional. It does not perform diagnostic interpretations itself.
No
The device description explicitly states it is a "digital imaging system" and an "optional integral component of a radiographic/fluoroscopic universal interventional angiographic suite," indicating it includes hardware components beyond just software.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use clearly states that the device is used with radiographic fluoroscopic and universal interventional angiography x-ray systems to acquire, record, and display radiographic images for various medical procedures. This involves imaging the human body directly, not analyzing samples taken from the body.
- Device Description: The description reinforces that it's a digital imaging system for radiographic/fluoroscopic, angiographic, and interventional procedures, designed to acquire, record, and display images.
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: There is no mention of analyzing biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.), detecting specific substances, or providing diagnostic information based on laboratory tests.
IVD devices are specifically designed to perform tests on samples taken from the human body to provide information for the diagnosis, monitoring, or treatment of diseases or conditions. This device's function is entirely focused on medical imaging.

§ 892.2050 Medical image management and processing system.
(a)
Identification. A medical image management and processing system is a device that provides one or more capabilities relating to the review and digital processing of medical images for the purposes of interpretation by a trained practitioner of disease detection, diagnosis, or patient management. The software components may provide advanced or complex image processing functions for image manipulation, enhancement, or quantification that are intended for use in the interpretation and analysis of medical images. Advanced image manipulation functions may include image segmentation, multimodality image registration, or 3D visualization. Complex quantitative functions may include semi-automated measurements or time-series measurements.(b)
