No
The summary focuses on the display and viewing of medical images for diagnosis and does not mention any AI/ML capabilities or related performance metrics.

No
Explanation: The device is intended for displaying and viewing digital images for review and diagnosis, not for treating any medical condition.

Yes
The device is described as being used for "review, and diagnosis by trained medical practitioners," explicitly stating its role in the diagnostic process.

Unknown

The summary lacks a device description, which is crucial for determining if the device is software-only or includes hardware components.

Based on the provided information, the MDNC-6121 is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • IVD Definition: In vitro diagnostics are tests performed on samples taken from the human body, such as blood, urine, or tissue, to detect diseases, conditions, or infections. They are used to provide information for diagnosis, monitoring, or screening.
  • MDNC-6121 Function: The MDNC-6121 is described as a device for displaying and viewing digital images for review and diagnosis. It processes and presents images that are generated by imaging modalities (like mammography and breast tomosynthesis), which are external to the device itself.
  • Lack of Biological Sample Analysis: There is no mention of the MDNC-6121 analyzing any biological samples from the patient. Its function is solely related to the visual presentation of medical images.

Therefore, the MDNC-6121 falls under the category of a medical device used for image display and review, not an in vitro diagnostic device.

§ 892.2050 Medical image management and processing system.

(a)
Identification. A medical image management and processing system is a device that provides one or more capabilities relating to the review and digital processing of medical images for the purposes of interpretation by a trained practitioner of disease detection, diagnosis, or patient management. The software components may provide advanced or complex image processing functions for image manipulation, enhancement, or quantification that are intended for use in the interpretation and analysis of medical images. Advanced image manipulation functions may include image segmentation, multimodality image registration, or 3D visualization. Complex quantitative functions may include semi-automated measurements or time-series measurements.(b)
Classification. Class II (special controls; voluntary standards—Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Std., Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) Std., Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) Test Pattern).
