Yes
The "Intended Use / Indications for Use" states the device is "intended to pierce the skin in the practice of acupuncture," which is a form of treatment, indicating a therapeutic purpose.

No

The device is described as an acupuncture needle, intended to pierce the skin for acupuncture treatment. This is a therapeutic action, not a diagnostic one. There is no mention of the device being used to identify diseases or conditions.

No

The device description explicitly states it is a solid, stainless steel needle, which is a physical hardware component.

Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • IVD Definition: In vitro diagnostics are tests performed on samples taken from the human body, such as blood, urine, or tissue, to detect diseases, conditions, or infections. They are used to provide information for diagnosis, monitoring, or screening.
  • Device Description: The description clearly states the device is an acupuncture needle intended to pierce the skin. This is a physical intervention on the body, not a test performed on a sample taken from the body.
  • Intended Use: The intended use is for the practice of acupuncture, which involves stimulating points on the body with needles. This is a therapeutic procedure, not a diagnostic test.

Therefore, the device described is a medical device used for a therapeutic purpose, not an in vitro diagnostic device.
