No
The device is intended for examination, not treatment, of the eye.
Yes
The "Intended Use / Indications for Use" states that the device is "intended for use in the examination of the anterior segment of the eye," which is a diagnostic activity.
No
The device is described as a "Portable Slit Lamp," which is a hardware device used for eye examination. The summary does not mention any software component as the primary or sole function.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use is "for use in the examination of the anterior segment of the eye." This describes a direct examination of a patient's body part, not the testing of samples taken from the body (like blood, urine, or tissue) in a laboratory setting.
- Lack of IVD Indicators: The description does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
- Testing of biological samples.
- Detection or measurement of substances in samples.
- Use in a laboratory or clinical setting for diagnostic testing of samples.
A slit lamp is a medical device used for visual examination of the eye, which falls under the category of diagnostic imaging or examination devices, not in vitro diagnostics.
