No.
The device's intended use is for surgical procedures involving resection, ablation, coagulation, and hemostasis, which are operative actions rather than therapeutic interventions designed to treat medical conditions.
No
The device is described as being "intended for resection, ablation and coagulation of soft tissues and haemostasis of blood vessels in surgical procedures," which are treatment functions, not diagnostic ones.
No
The intended use describes a device for resection, ablation, and coagulation of soft tissues and haemostasis of blood vessels, which are physical actions typically performed by hardware devices. The summary does not mention any software-only functionality.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use clearly describes a device used for surgical procedures (resection, ablation, coagulation, haemostasis) on soft tissues and blood vessels within the body.
- IVD Definition: In vitro diagnostics (IVDs) are medical devices used to perform tests on samples taken from the human body, such as blood, urine, or tissue, to provide information about a person's health.
The Vesalius device operates directly on tissues within the body during surgery, which is the opposite of how an IVD functions.
