The summary describes a standard dental treatment unit providing basic utilities (air, water, vacuum, electricity) and does not mention any features or functionalities related to AI or ML.
No
The device is a dental treatment unit that operates other dental devices; it does not directly provide therapy itself.
No
Explanation: The device description states it is a "self-contained dental treatment unit" designed to provide utilities (air, water, vacuum, electricity) to operate other dental handpieces and accessories. It is explicitly stated that its intended use is to "provide general dental restorative care and hygiene procedures." There is no mention of the device performing any diagnostic functions or producing diagnostic information.
No
The device description explicitly states it is a "self-contained dental treatment unit that contains a built in air compressor, vacuum system and water supply," indicating it is a hardware device with physical components.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use clearly states that the device is a "self-contained dental treatment unit" designed to provide air, water, vacuum, and electricity to operate dental handpieces and accessories for "general dental restorative care and hygiene procedures." This describes a device used directly on a patient for treatment, not for testing samples in vitro (outside the body).
- Device Description: The description reinforces its function as a dental treatment unit providing utilities for dental procedures.
- Lack of IVD characteristics: There is no mention of analyzing biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.), detecting diseases or conditions through laboratory tests, or any other activities typically associated with in vitro diagnostics.
Therefore, the ASI 'Advanced Endodontic System - Designer Series' is a dental treatment device, not an IVD.
