No
The device is an assessment tool for verifying successful ventilation/intubation, which is a diagnostic or monitoring function rather than a direct therapeutic intervention.
Yes
The device is described as an "adjunct assessment tool for verification of successful ventilation/intubation," which indicates it is used to assess a patient's physiological state to confirm a medical procedure, a function characteristic of a diagnostic device.
Unknown
The provided 510(k) summary lacks a device description, making it impossible to determine if the device is software-only or includes hardware components.
Based on the provided information, the ACE/StatCheck II is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use is described as an "adjunct assessment tool for verification of successful ventilation/intubation." This describes a device used to monitor a physiological process (ventilation/intubation) directly on the patient, not a test performed on a sample taken from the body.
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: The description does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
- Analyzing biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
- Detecting or measuring substances within those samples
- Providing information about a disease state, condition, or physiological state based on sample analysis.
The ACE/StatCheck II appears to be a device used in a clinical setting to assess the effectiveness of a medical procedure (ventilation/intubation) in real-time on the patient. This falls under the category of a medical device used for monitoring or assessment, not an in vitro diagnostic.
