The device, a patient examination glove, is intended to prevent contamination, not to diagnose a medical condition.

No

The device is a physical product (gloves) and does not involve any software component.

Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • Intended Use: The intended use is clearly stated as a "disposable device intended for medical purposes that is worn on the examiner's hand or finger to prevent contamination between patient and examiner." This describes a barrier device used during physical examination, not a device used to examine specimens from the human body to provide information for diagnosis, monitoring, or treatment.
  • Device Description: The description focuses on the physical characteristics and standards met by the glove (vinyl, powder-free, ASTM standards). This aligns with a medical device used for protection, not an IVD.
  • Lack of IVD Indicators: There is no mention of analyzing biological samples, reagents, or providing diagnostic information. The performance studies focus on physical properties and safety (waterleak test, biocompatibility).

Therefore, this device falls under the category of a medical device, specifically a patient examination glove, and not an In Vitro Diagnostic device.
