The document describes a laser therapy system that delivers light energy for therapeutic purposes. There is no mention of AI or ML in the intended use, device description, or performance studies. The device appears to be a standard laser therapy device.
Yes.
The device is intended for therapeutic purposes such as temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, and increased local circulation, which are direct medical interventions.
No
The device is described as a therapy system intended to provide topical heating for temporary relief of pain and stiffness, and increase local circulation. There is no mention of it being used to diagnose or detect medical conditions.
No
The device description explicitly details hardware components, specifically "laser diode assembly hand-held to deliver the light energy" and mentions "four (4) channels of laser." This indicates it is a physical device that emits energy, not solely software.
Based on the provided text, this device is not an In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use clearly states the device is for "topical heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for the temporary relief of minor muscle and the joint pain and stiffness, for the temporary relief of minor joint pain associated with arthritis, for the temporary increase in local circulation where applied and the relaxation of muscles." This describes a therapeutic application directly on the body, not a diagnostic test performed on samples taken from the body.
- Device Description: The description details a "noninvasive" system that "deliver[s] light energy to the target tissue." It describes hand-held application to the skin. This is consistent with a physical therapy or pain relief device, not an IVD.
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: There is no mention of analyzing biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.), detecting biomarkers, or providing diagnostic information about a disease or condition based on laboratory testing.
Therefore, the Multi-Channel Laser Therapy System (Model no.: LA-400) is a therapeutic device, not an IVD.

Device Description
The Multi-Channel Laser Therapy System LA-400 is a noninvasive, non-coherent, visible and infrared light therapy system. The Multi-Channel Laser Therapy System (Model no.: LA-400) is a low level laser of two wave bands. One is 660nm (red light, visibility) and the other is 808nm (infrared light, invisibility). LA-400 contains four (4) channels of laser. For each channel of the Multi-Channel Laser Therapy System , LA-400 makes use of cup + laser diode assembly hand-held to deliver the light energy to the designated treatment areas. The cup + laser diode assembly are put on the skin for treatment. Basic operation and treatment of LA-400 is utilizing the laser module mounted in the cup (we call laser module cup) which will be hand-held and put on skin easily.
