No
The summary describes a dental varnish material and does not mention any computational or analytical capabilities, let alone AI/ML.

No
The primary function described is protection and treatment, which are preventive and restorative actions rather than directly therapeutic in the sense of actively treating or curing a disease condition. It protects against further damage and treats a symptom (hypersensitivity) rather than the underlying cause of a disease.

No
The device is described as a dental varnish material for protection and treatment, not for identifying or diagnosing a disease or condition.

No

The device is described as a "dental varnish material," which is a physical substance applied to teeth. This indicates it is a material/chemical product, not a software-only device.

Based on the provided information, Cervitec Plus is NOT an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic) device.

Here's why:

  • Intended Use: The intended use is for the "protection of exposed root surfaces and treatment of hypersensitive cervicals." This describes a direct application to the patient's body for therapeutic and protective purposes.
  • IVD Definition: In vitro diagnostics are devices intended for use in the collection, preparation, and examination of specimens taken from the human body (such as blood, urine, or tissue) to provide information for the diagnosis, monitoring, or treatment of a disease or condition.

Cervitec Plus is applied directly to the teeth and root surfaces, not used to test specimens taken from the body. Therefore, it falls under the category of a medical device, but not an IVD.

Dear Ms. Hartnett:

We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). This letter will allow you to begin marketing your device as described in your Section 510(k) premarket notification. The FDA finding of substantial equivalence of your device to a legally marketed predicate device results in a classification for your device and thus, permits your device to proceed to the market.
