No
The summary describes a bone fixation device and contains no mention of AI, ML, image processing, or data sets typically associated with AI/ML medical devices.

No
The device is used for fixation of bone fragments and arthrodesis, which are surgical procedures, not therapeutic treatments.

No
Explanation: The intended use describes fixation and arthrodesis, which are surgical treatment procedures, not diagnostic activities.

Unknown

The provided 510(k) summary lacks a device description, making it impossible to determine if the device is software-only or includes hardware components.

Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • Intended Use: The intended use is "Hand and foot bone fragment and osteotomy fixation and joint arthrodesis of the hand and foot bones." This describes a surgical procedure involving the physical manipulation and fixation of bone tissue within the body.
  • Lack of IVD Characteristics: The description does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
    • Analyzing samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
    • Providing diagnostic information based on in vitro tests
    • Using reagents or test kits

IVDs are devices used to examine specimens derived from the human body to provide information for the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment, or alleviation of disease. This device's function is clearly related to surgical intervention and fixation, not in vitro analysis.

(a)
Identification. Single/multiple component metallic bone fixation appliances and accessories are devices intended to be implanted consisting of one or more metallic components and their metallic fasteners. The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.(b)

Dear Mr. Mrak:

We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration.

If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to such additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898.
