The description focuses on configuration tools and data download software, with no mention of AI/ML algorithms for analysis or decision support beyond simple rule-based comparisons.
No
The device is described as a software accessory for configuring and accessing data from a volumetric infusion pump, not as a device that directly performs therapy.
No
The COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN Configuration Tool and COLLEAGUE DL2 Event History Download Software Application are software accessories for an infusion pump. The configuration tool helps set rules for the pump, and the download software provides access to event history. Neither of these functions involves diagnosing a disease, condition, or state of health. They are tools for managing and accessing data from a medical device, not for medical diagnosis itself.
Yes
The device is described as a "proprietary, Personal Computer (PC) based software accessory" and its function is to configure or download data from a separate medical device (the infusion pump). It does not appear to include any hardware components itself.
Based on the provided text, neither the COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN Configuration Tool nor the COLLEAGUE DL2 Event History Download Software Application are IVDs (In Vitro Diagnostics).
Here's why:
- IVD Definition: An IVD is a medical device that is used to examine specimens taken from the human body, such as blood, urine, or tissue, to provide information for diagnosis, monitoring, or screening.
- Device Function: The descriptions clearly state that these software accessories are used for:
- COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN Configuration Tool: Defining, creating, and maintaining configurations and rule sets for an infusion pump to support clinical decision-making at the point of care. It helps compare pump programming with hospital guidelines.
- COLLEAGUE DL2 Event History Download Software Application: Accessing and managing event history data from an infusion pump.
- No Specimen Analysis: Neither software accessory is involved in the analysis of any biological specimens from a patient. Their function is related to the operation, configuration, and data management of a medical device (the infusion pump).
Therefore, these devices do not fit the definition of an In Vitro Diagnostic. They are accessories to a medical device (the infusion pump) that aid in its use and data management.

Device Description
The COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN Configuration Tool is a proprietary, Personal Computer (PC) based software accessory that is used to define, create and maintain the COLLEAGUE Personality Feature Sets, Labels and rule sets (COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN Configurations) associated with the COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN feature. This feature is a clinical support tool that allows the clinician to compare pump programming with hospital- defined guidelines at the point of care. If the clinician programs any values outside of the rule sets established by the hospital, an out-of-limits warning occurs. These Configurations, including Personality Feature Sets and associated Labels, can be transferred to or from a COLLEAGUE pump. In addition, the Configurations may be saved in a COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN Configuration Tool file, allowing the use of this tool to create and update Configurations. The tool also allows confirmation of new or modified Configurations, copying of Configurations and printing of Configuration reports. The COLLEAGUE GUARDIAN Configuration Tool, as compared to manual entry, minimizes the potential to transcribe the wrong data value from paper documents.
All COLLEAGUE Volumetric Infusion Pumps have an Event History that stores the most recent 1,000 sequential pump events, such as key presses, alarms and alerts. The COLLEAGUE DL2 Event History Download Software Application facilitates the Event History download to a PC. These events may be viewed, printed and copied to the Windows Clipboard for pasting into other programs.

(a)
Identification. An infusion pump is a device used in a health care facility to pump fluids into a patient in a controlled manner. The device may use a piston pump, a roller pump, or a peristaltic pump and may be powered electrically or mechanically. The device may also operate using a constant force to propel the fluid through a narrow tube which determines the flow rate. The device may include means to detect a fault condition, such as air in, or blockage of, the infusion line and to activate an alarm.(b)
