No
The device is used for diagnosis and examination, not for treating diseases or conditions.
Yes
The "Intended Use / Indications for Use" states that the device "is used to aid in the diagnosis of diseases or trauma which affect the structural properties of the anterior eye segment." This clearly indicates its role in diagnosis.
No
The summary describes a slitlamp biomicroscope, which is a hardware device used for eye examination. There is no mention of software being the primary or sole component.
No, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- IVD Definition: In Vitro Diagnostics are medical devices used to examine specimens taken from the human body (like blood, urine, tissue) to provide information about a person's health.
- Slitlamp Biomicroscope Function: A slitlamp biomicroscope is used for direct visual examination of the eye's anterior segment. It does not analyze specimens taken from the body. It's a tool for direct observation and imaging in vivo.
The intended use clearly describes a direct examination of the eye's structure, not the analysis of biological samples.
