Explanation: This device is for monitoring glucose levels for diabetes control, not for directly treating or preventing a disease.
No.
The "Intended Use / Indications for Use" section explicitly states, "It is not intended for the diagnosis of or screening for diabetes mellitus". While it measures glucose, its purpose is for monitoring effectiveness of control programs, not for diagnosis.
No
The description clearly states the device measures glucose in "fresh capillary whole blood," which requires a physical component (like a test strip and meter) to interact with the blood sample. This indicates it is not a software-only device.
Yes, this device is an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use explicitly states it's for the "quantitative measurement of glucose in fresh capillary whole blood". This involves testing a biological sample (blood) outside of the body to obtain diagnostic information (glucose levels).
- Purpose: The purpose is to "aid in monitoring the effectiveness of diabetes control program". This is a diagnostic purpose, helping individuals and healthcare professionals manage a medical condition.
These characteristics align with the definition of an In Vitro Diagnostic device.
