The summary describes a system for ECG analysis, pacemaker artifact analysis, and data management, but there is no mention of AI or ML technologies being used for these functions. The description focuses on standard signal processing and database capabilities.
No.
The device is used for diagnostic purposes (e.g., 12-lead electrocardiograph, pacemaker artifact analyzer, transtelephonic ECG monitor, and analyzing implanted pacemaker performance), not for treating conditions.
Yes
Explanation: The device is intended for use as a 12-lead electrocardiograph and pacemaker artifact analyzer, and it provides data that can be used to analyze implanted pacemaker performance based on electrocardiographic measurements, all of which are diagnostic functions.
No
The device description explicitly states it is a "personal computer based pacemaker-testing system, a 12-lead electrocardiograph, and a transtelephonic receiving station," indicating it includes hardware components beyond just software.
Based on the provided information, the Paceart System is not an In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) device.
Here's why:
- IVD devices are used to examine specimens derived from the human body (like blood, urine, tissue) to provide information for diagnosis, monitoring, or screening.
- The Paceart System's intended use and device description clearly state that it analyzes electrocardiographic measurements taken directly from the patient or programmer. It also functions as a database for patient information and a transtelephonic receiving station.
- There is no mention of the system analyzing any biological specimens.
Therefore, the Paceart System falls under the category of a medical device that analyzes physiological signals (ECG) and manages patient data, but it does not meet the definition of an In Vitro Diagnostic device.

Intended Use / Indications for Use
The Paceart System is intended for use as a 12-lead electrocardiograph, pacemaker artifact analyzer, and transtelephonic ECG monitor. It also acts as a database for pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator patients.

§ 870.3640 Indirect pacemaker generator function analyzer.
(a)
Identification. An indirect pacemaker generator function analyzer is an electrically powered device that is used to determine pacemaker function or pacemaker battery function by periodically monitoring an implanted pacemaker's pulse rate and pulse width. The device is noninvasive, and it detects pacemaker pulse rate and width via external electrodes in contact with the patient's skin.(b)
Classification. Class II (performance standards).

Dear Ms. Benson:
We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food. Drug. and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration.
If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to such additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898. In addition, FDA may publish further announcements concerning your device in the Federal Register.
