The device description and intended use clearly define a simple, disposable medical glove, with no mention of any computational or analytical capabilities that would involve AI or ML.
No
The device, an examination glove, is intended to prevent contamination, not to provide therapy or treatment.
No
Explanation: The device, a patient examination glove, is used to prevent contamination between the patient and examiner. It does not diagnose any condition or disease.
No
The device description clearly states it is a "DISPOSABLE POWDERED VINYL SYNTHETIC EXAM GLOVES," which is a physical hardware product, not software.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use clearly states the device is a "PATIENT EXAMINATION GLOVE" worn on the hand or fingers to prevent contamination. This is a physical barrier device used during patient examination.
- Device Description: The description confirms it's a "DISPOSABLE POWDERED VINYL SYNTHETIC EXAM GLOVES".
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: The description does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
- Analyzing samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
- Detecting or measuring substances in the body
- Providing information for diagnosis, monitoring, or screening
IVDs are used to perform tests in vitro (outside the body) on samples taken from the body. This device is used in vivo (on the body) as a physical barrier.

Dear Mr. Ling:
We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration.
If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to such additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898.
