Yes
The device is used for "cauterizing during surgery," which is a therapeutic action.
No
The description states the device is used for "cauterizing during surgery," which is a treatment procedure, not a diagnostic one.
No
The 510(k) summary describes disposable bi-polar and di-polar cables used with electrosurgery, which are hardware components, not software.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use is "for cauterizing during surgery" using electrosurgical power. This describes a device used on a patient during a surgical procedure, not a device used to test samples from a patient in a laboratory setting.
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: The description does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
- Analyzing biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
- Providing diagnostic information about a patient's health status
- Using reagents or assays
Therefore, this device falls under the category of a surgical instrument used for therapeutic purposes, not an in vitro diagnostic device.
