More Information

No
The description focuses on hardware and software modifications to integrate a standard pulse oximetry measurement board and does not mention any AI/ML algorithms for data processing or interpretation.

No
The device is described as a "monitoring" device for arterial oxygen saturation and pulse rate, providing "continuos non-invasive measurement" and "visual and auditory alarms." It does not provide any treatment or therapy.

No

Explanation: The device is described as a "saturation module" for "monitoring arterial oxygen saturation." Its purpose is to continuously measure pulse rate and oxygen saturation and provide alarms for abnormal values. Monitoring is typically a part of patient management, not making an initial diagnosis. While the information it provides can be used by qualified medical personnel to manage a patient, the device itself is for monitoring, not diagnostic determination.

No

The device description explicitly details hardware components such as a plug-in module, LEDs, a photodetector, measurement boards, an interface board, a patient connector, and associated cables and accessories. While software is mentioned as being modified and integrated, the device is clearly a combination of hardware and software.

Based on the provided text, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • Intended Use/Indications for Use: The intended use is for "monitoring arterial oxygen saturation of hospitalized patients." This is a physiological measurement taken directly from the patient, not a test performed on a sample of bodily fluid or tissue in vitro (outside the body).
  • Device Description: The description details a module that uses light wavelengths and a photodetector to measure oxygen saturation and pulse rate. This is consistent with a non-invasive physiological monitoring device, not an IVD.
  • Lack of IVD Characteristics: The text does not mention any of the typical characteristics of an IVD, such as:
    • Analysis of biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
    • Reagents or assays
    • Laboratory testing
    • Diagnosis based on analysis of samples

The device is clearly described as a patient monitoring module that integrates with a larger patient monitoring system to provide real-time physiological data.
