The description details a chemical reaction for creating a dental impression material, with no mention of software, algorithms, or data processing that would indicate AI/ML.
No
The device is described as a material for taking impressions of teeth, specifically for setting gypsum casts in the correct occlusal relationship. This is a diagnostic aid or an impression material, not a device that provides therapy or treatment to a patient.
No
The device is used for taking impressions of teeth for the purpose of mounting casts on an articulator, which is a mechanical aid for dentists and laboratories, not for diagnosing a medical condition.
No
The device is a physical material (vinyl polysiloxane paste) used for taking dental impressions, not a software application.
Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).
Here's why:
- Intended Use: The intended use is to take impressions of the biting surfaces of teeth for setting gypsum casts. This is a mechanical process used in dentistry for creating models of the teeth and jaw relationship.
- Device Description: The device is a material that cures into a rigid impression. This is a physical process, not a diagnostic test performed on biological samples.
- Lack of IVD Characteristics: There is no mention of analyzing biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) or providing diagnostic information about a patient's health condition. The device is used to create a physical representation for dental procedures.
IVD devices are used to examine specimens derived from the human body to provide information for the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment, or alleviation of disease. This device does not fit that description.
