No
The document does not mention AI, ML, deep learning, or any related terms, nor does it describe features or performance metrics typically associated with AI/ML-powered devices.

No
The device is described as a Mobile C-Arm intended for routine radiography and follow-up x-rays, which are diagnostic imaging purposes, not therapeutic interventions.

No
The device is described as an x-ray machine used for "routine radiography and follow-up x-rays," which are imaging procedures. While medical imaging can inform diagnosis, the device itself is for image acquisition, not for interpereting the images to provide a diagnosis.

No

The device is described as a "Mobile C-Arm," which is a type of X-ray imaging hardware. The intended use also describes performing X-rays, which requires hardware.

Based on the provided information, this device is not an IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic).

Here's why:

  • Intended Use: The intended use clearly states that the Pathfinder Mobile C-Arm is used for routine radiography and follow-up x-rays. This involves imaging the internal structures of the body using x-rays.
  • IVD Definition: In Vitro Diagnostics are medical devices used to perform tests on samples taken from the human body, such as blood, urine, or tissue, to detect diseases, conditions, or infections.
  • Modality: The input imaging modality is x-ray, which is an in-vivo imaging technique (imaging within the living body), not an in-vitro technique (imaging outside the living body).
  • Anatomical Site: The anatomical sites mentioned (gastrointestinal, chest, bone, hip) are all parts of the human body being imaged directly, not samples taken from the body.

Therefore, the Pathfinder Mobile C-Arm is an in-vivo diagnostic imaging device, not an in-vitro diagnostic device.

§ 892.1650 Image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system.

(a)
Identification. An image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system is a device intended to visualize anatomical structures by converting a pattern of x-radiation into a visible image through electronic amplification. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.(b)
Classification. Class II (special controls). An anthrogram tray or radiology dental tray intended for use with an image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system only is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9. In addition, when intended as an accessory to the device described in paragraph (a) of this section, the fluoroscopic compression device is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9.
