Intended Use

The Moss P. E. G. Tray is used to place a tube through the abdominal wall and into the lumen of the stomach (and/or beyond) without open surgery. The procedure provides a channel for providing nourishment directly into the digestive system for patients who cannot swallow (e.g. after stroke). An independent channel can be suctioned to remove excess feedings, swallowed air, or other fluids that might distend the stomach and lead to vomiting.

Device Story

The Moss P.E.G. Tray is a procedural kit used by clinicians to perform percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy. The device facilitates the placement of a feeding tube through the abdominal wall into the stomach lumen without requiring open surgery. It provides a primary channel for direct enteral nourishment and an independent secondary channel for suctioning excess feedings, swallowed air, or gastric fluids to prevent distension and vomiting. The tray contains the necessary components for the procedure. It is intended for use in a clinical setting by healthcare professionals.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided; bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

The device is a procedural tray containing components for percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy. It functions as a mechanical delivery system for enteral feeding tubes. No specific materials, energy sources, or software algorithms are described.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients unable to swallow, such as post-stroke patients, requiring enteral nutrition via a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placed without open surgery.
