Intended Use
The Audicor® Sensors are a family of dual-function sensors for use on adult patients (≥ 18 years) for acquisition of both heart sounds and ECG electrical signals and to transmit these signals to a compatible Audicor system to allow for the evaluation of patient status, to aid in diagnosis, and to determine effects of treatment on ECG and hemodynamics. There are disposable and reusable versions of the Audicor Sensor. Both can be used in the collection of resting ECG reports. The disposable Audicor Sensor is also intended for longer term monitoring applications of up to 48 hours.
Device Story
Audicor Sensors are dual-function devices capturing ECG electrical signals and heart sounds via chest wall placement (V3/V4 positions). Sensors feature conductive surfaces for ECG and integrated microphones for acoustic heart sound detection. Designed for use with compatible Audicor-enabled detection systems. Available in single-use disposable (up to 48-hour monitoring) and durable reusable versions. System transmits captured signals to the Audicor system for processing; healthcare providers use output to evaluate patient status, assist in diagnosis, and assess treatment efficacy regarding ECG and hemodynamics.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Compliance demonstrated with ANSI/AAMI EC12:2000 for disposable ECG electrodes and ISO 10993-1:2003 for biological evaluation.

An electrocardiograph electrode is the electrical conductor which is applied to the surface of the body to transmit the electrical signal at the body surface to a processor that produces an electrocardiogram or vectorcardiogram.
Special Controls
*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The device is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 870.9. The special control for this device is the FDA guidance document entitled “Class II Special Controls Guidance Document: Electrocardiograph Electrodes.” See § 870.1(e) for availability information of guidance documents.

We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food. Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration.
If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to such additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898. In addition, FDA may publish further announcements concerning your device in the Federal Register.
