Intended Use

The DRI® Hemoglobin A1c Assay is an in vitro reagent system for the quantitative determination of Hemoglobin A1c in human whole blood using automated clinical chemistry analyzers. Device Story

DRI Hemoglobin A1c Assay is a homogeneous immunoassay for quantitative HbA1c measurement in human whole blood; used on automated clinical chemistry analyzers. Principle: HbA1c in sample competes with HbA1c on microparticles for binding to specific antibody; agglutination occurs proportional to HbA1c concentration. Kit includes reagents and hemolysis buffer; calibrator kit includes lyophilized positive and negative calibrators. Used in clinical laboratory settings by trained personnel. Output is HbA1c concentration; assists clinicians in assessing long-term glycemic control and diabetes management.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Precision (n=80) showed 0.62-0.67% CV within-run and 2.03-2.36% CV total-run. Linearity range 5.2% to 16% HbA1c. Interference testing showed no interference with bilirubin (50 mg/dL), ascorbic acid (50 mg/dL), triglycerides (1000 mg/dL), EDTA (6 mg/mL), heparin (75 units/mL), citrate (9 mg/mL), or oxalate (15 mg/mL). Method comparison (n=80) against Tosoh G7 yielded correlation of 0.9915 and slope of 0.999.

It is used as a reference method for establishing traceable results of other methods to the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT).
