Intended Use

HUANQIU Heating lamp, including CQ-27, CQ-29 and CQ-67, is an infrared lamp that emits the infrared spectrum to provide topical heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature, to temporarily increase local blood circulation, and to temporarily relieve minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness. The lamps may also help to relieve minor pain associated with muscle spasms, minor sprains and strains, and minor muscular back pain.

Device Story

HUANQIU Heating Lamps (models CQ-27, CQ-29, CQ-67) are infrared heating devices consisting of a heating head, swing arm, control box, and pedestal. The device utilizes a rare earth ceramic plate to emit infrared radiation (2 to 50 microns) to provide topical heat. The device is powered by 110V AC. Users operate the device by positioning the heating head 8 to 12 inches from the treatment area to achieve skin temperatures of 40-45°C. The device includes a timer (up to 60 minutes) and either standard or digital display controls. It is intended to elevate tissue temperature, increase local blood circulation, and provide temporary relief for minor musculoskeletal pain and stiffness. The heating plate requires replacement after 1,000 to 1,500 hours of use.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. No clinical data provided. Equivalence is based on technical specifications, material composition, and performance testing (skin temperature output at varying distances) compared to the predicate device.

Technological Characteristics

Infrared lamp; rare earth ceramic heating plate; 110V AC power; 250W max power; 2-50 micron emission spectrum; 1,000-1,500 hour plate life; 4-5 casters; 2 fuses; standard or digital display control options. Tested to IEC 60601-1 (GB 9706.1-1995).

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring topical heating to elevate tissue temperature, increase local blood circulation, and temporarily relieve minor muscle and joint pain, stiffness, muscle spasms, minor sprains, strains, and minor muscular back pain.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An infrared lamp is a device intended for medical purposes that emits energy at infrared frequencies (approximately 700 nanometers to 50,000 nanometers) to provide topical heating.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The device, when it is an infrared therapeutic heating lamp, is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 890.9.
